What is a profile and what can I use it for?
A profile is a shareable, single-page website you can create in minutes. It works for anything: a personal brand, a business, a product, a service, an event, a portfolio, a real-estate listing, and more. Each profile gets its own URL and QR code so you can share it anywhere.
How do I create my first profile?
Sign up, choose a plan, and click "New Profile." Add your info, pick a theme and colors, then activate it. Your profile is live immediately with its own link and QR code.
Which languages does the app support?
The app UI is available in 60 languages, including English, major European languages (for example Swedish, Catalan, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Lithuanian, and Estonian), Indian languages (Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, and Punjabi), Central Asian languages (Kazakh, Uzbek, and Azerbaijani), Javanese, African languages (Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Amharic, Afrikaans, and Swahili), Cantonese (Hong Kong), and the languages already in our selector. Open the language menu in the header or account drawer to switch. Your business profile content stays in the language you write it in.
Can I share my profile with someone who doesn't have an account?
Yes. Every profile is a publicly accessible webpage. Anyone with the link can view it without needing an account.
How do I share my profile?
You can share your profile link via email, text, messaging apps, or social media posts. You can also print or share the built-in QR code on business cards, flyers, or signage.
Is there a limit to how many visits my profile can get?
No. There is no cap on visits. Your profile can be accessed by an unlimited number of people.
How many profiles can I have in my account?
You can create multiple profiles under one account depending on your subscription plan. Each profile can represent a different person, business, product, service, or event.
What is included in each plan?
Plans differ in the number of profiles, storage, analytics, and features available. Visit the Pricing page to compare plans side by side and choose the one that fits your needs.
Does my profile have a QR code?
Yes. Every profile comes with a QR code that anyone can scan to open it instantly. You can download the QR code and print it on cards, posters, packaging, or any material.
Can visitors save my contact information to their phone?
Yes. Your profile includes a 'Save Contact' button that lets visitors add your details directly to their smartphone contacts.
How do I get a QR code for my profile?
From your profile list, open the row action menu and choose Show QR Codes to download images for your card QR and any section QRs you set up. You can also use the QR control in the profile editor to open the same download flow for one placement.
Where do I create and edit QR codes for my profile?
Open the profile in the editor (Home). Use the QR control next to your header, each featured section, and each product block to name the QR, choose where scans should send visitors, adjust colors and style, and set redirect rules. There is no separate QR authoring page—everything stays in context on your profile.
How many QR codes can one profile have?
Each profile has one header (card) QR for the top of the page, and you can add a separate QR for each featured section and each product block you enable. Each placement gets its own tracked QR so you can see which part of the profile people scanned.
Can I customize how my QR codes look?
Yes. In the QR editor for each placement, open the Appearance tab to pick a built-in style preset and fine-tune colors, dot shape, and an optional logo. The editor warns you if a design might be hard to scan. Changes apply when you save that QR.
What is a Tracking Code on a QR?
A Tracking Code is an optional label you add to a QR (for example spring-sale or booth-3). Each code creates a variant of the same QR image that still goes to the same destination, but scans are counted separately so you can compare performance in Analytics. Codes must be unique across your whole account.
What are partner link tags, and how are they different from Tracking Codes?
Partner link tags are optional extra details added to the website link visitors open after they scan—not to the QR image itself. Use them for referral or partner IDs your landing page can read. Tracking Codes stay on the scan link and are only for counting which variant was scanned. The editor explains both in plain language under Basics.
How do I download QR images for printing?
On the profile files list, open the row action menu and choose Show QR Codes. Select which QRs to export (header, sections, and optional tracking code variants), pick screen or print size, then Download. You need an assigned site name on that profile before downloads are enabled. Up to 30 files can be included in one ZIP.
How do I view QR scan analytics?
On the profile files list, open the action menu for that profile and choose Analytics. You must start from a profile row so the report has the right context. Compare up to five QRs at once with charts, filter by date range, and filter by Tracking Code when you use variants.
What can I see in QR Analytics charts?
You see total scans and unique scans, then choose a breakdown: country, device type, time of day (UTC), individual QR, Tracking Code, or SKU when you use product SKUs as anchors. Switch between bar and line charts, export a CSV for spreadsheets, and use compare mode to overlay multiple QRs on one chart.
What is an optional SKU anchor on a product or featured block?
For product and featured blocks you can turn on Use SKU as page anchor and enter an SKU (letters, numbers, and dashes). When enabled, that value becomes the scroll target on your live profile and is added as sku= on the visit link. SKUs must be unique within the profile. The internal placement key for the QR does not change when you rename the block.
What happens when someone scans my QR?
The QR image points to a short tracked link on our servers. We record the scan (including optional Tracking Code), then send the visitor to the destination you configured—the profile site, another site on your account, or a custom https link—with any partner tags or SKU you set up on the landing URL.
Can I send scans to different links by time, location, or password?
Advanced redirect rules (schedules, locales, gated access, and usage limits) depend on your subscription. Header QRs use a simpler routing panel; featured and product QRs show the full routing tab when your plan includes it. Exporting QR images is available on all plans.
Does customizing QR codes slow down my live profile?
No. Visitors still tap Show QR on your live profile to reveal the code; the image loads only after that click. Authoring and downloads happen in the editor and files list, not as extra weight on every page view.
What can I put on my profile?
Contact details, photos, videos, audio, documents, product showcases with buy links, embedded content (forms, maps, scheduling, social feeds, and 170+ other services), call-to-action buttons, and downloadable files like PDFs or vCards. You can also choose a theme, customize colors and fonts, and reorder sections.
What types of content can I embed?
You can embed content from over 180 trusted services across 17 categories: Video, Audio, Forms, Docs & Design, Real Estate / 3D, Social Media, Portfolio & Code, Scheduling & Booking, Reviews, Events & Ticketing, Finance & Data, Maps, E-commerce, Property & Accommodation, Newsletter, and Health & Wellness. When adding a Featured embed, click the info icon next to the embed field to see the full searchable list.
Can I showcase and sell products from my profile?
Yes. The Products section lets you display items with images, descriptions, prices, and buy links. Each product can link to any checkout or payment page (PayPal, Square, Stripe, Shopify, or any URL).
What file types can I add?
You can upload images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG), PDFs, audio files (MP3, WAV, OGG), and video files (MP4, WebM). Audio and video have a built-in player. PDFs and documents can be offered for download.
Can I change the look and feel of my profile?
Yes. Choose from multiple themes, customize colors, and reorder sections to highlight what matters most. Each profile can have its own look.
Can I change the font on my profile?
Yes. In the Theme section, choose from popular fonts or paste a custom Google Fonts embed code. You can also adjust body and heading font weights. The preview updates in real time.
Can I add customer testimonials to my profile?
Yes. You can add testimonials with customer name, date, quote, optional stars, and optional media cards such as images or one approved video embed. Pin testimonials to control which ones appear first on your public profile.
Can I change the order of sections on my profile?
Yes. In the profile editor, open the Section order & navigation panel directly above Save. Drag anywhere on a movable row to reorder Primary Contact, Secondary Contact, Engagement Actions, Featured Content, and Testimonials. Theme stays fixed because it controls global styling and does not appear as its own section on the public profile. Header, Analytics, Advanced, Save, and Footer Branding stay fixed.
How do I assign a schedule to a business profile?
Open Schedules from your account menu, choose an active schedule, open the actions menu, and select Assign to profiles. Check the profiles that should use that schedule and save. Each profile can have only one schedule at a time—assigning replaces any existing hours on that profile. You can use the same schedule on more than one profile.
How do I set business hours while editing a profile?
In the profile editor, open the Hours panel. Turn on Show hours on this profile, pick an existing schedule or create a new one, then use Edit schedule to change weekly hours in a full-screen editor. Save schedule stores changes in your schedule library; save the profile (when it already has a site name) or activate/deploy the profile to link that schedule to the live site.
Can visitors search my profile?
Your profile is a single page designed for quick scanning. Visitors scroll through sections, and you can reorder them so the most important content is at the top.
Can I control whether Google, search engines, and AI tools discover my profile?
Yes. For deployed profiles, open the actions menu on your business profiles list and choose Search & agent discoverability. When enabled, search engines such as Google and AI answer tools may index and recommend your public profile URL where our production indexing policy allows. When disabled, your profile stays online for anyone with your link or QR code, but the page asks crawlers and AI agents not to index or recommend it. Customer-owned profiles default to discoverable; administrator profiles default to off until you enable it. A globe or eye-slash icon next to the Active toggle shows the current setting.
Does the platform track visits or engagement?
Your profile page visits are handled like any public website. For QR codes you create on a profile, open Analytics from that profile’s action menu on the files list to see scan totals, unique scans, and breakdowns by location, device, time of day, tracking code, and more. Data is handled in line with our privacy policy.
Can visitors download my contact info or save it to their phone?
Yes. Your profile can include a "Save Contact" option so visitors can save your details to their smartphone. You can also offer a downloadable vCard.
Is my data secure?
We use industry-standard security and authentication. Your account and profile data are protected, and we do not share your data with third parties for marketing. See our privacy policy for details.
Can I use my own domain?
Depending on your plan, custom or branded domains may be supported. Check the Pricing page or contact us for current options.
Can I order custom merchandise with my QR code on it?
Yes. We can produce custom items (vinyl logos, hats, cups, engraved items, etc.) that include your profile QR code. Request a quote at /branded-gear or email brandedproducts@gotosignal.com.
Can I send interactions to Zapier, Make, my CRM, or other tools?
Today you can deep-link out from your profile. Coming soon: a signed webhook so interaction events POST to any HTTPS URL you control that can accept a webhook — your automation hub, spreadsheet, CRM intake, chat ops, custom API, serverless function, or anything else that already speaks webhooks. Examples people often connect: Zapier, Make, n8n, Google Sheets, HubSpot forms intake — those are examples, not a limit. One adapter, your ecosystem. Until it ships, contact us for early-access notes.
When will the signed interaction webhook ship?
It is on our roadmap as a signed outbound webhook (CH-2.1) that POSTs to any HTTPS endpoint you control. Until it ships, contact us for early-access notes — we will not claim live Zapier or CRM connectors before delivery.
Is gotosignal a digital business card app?
Card apps help you exchange and remember contacts. gotosignal publishes the business presence people land on — and shows which flyer, truck, hat, or NFC surface drove the scan.
How is gotosignal different from a dynamic QR platform?
Keep your QR ops tool for campaign codes. Point those codes at a gotosignal profile so the destination is not a thin card or link list. Shorteners measure the pipe; we are the page worth scanning to — with placement attribution on one profile.
How is gotosignal different from NFC card retailers?
If you need a metal-card retail catalog, that is a different aisle. If you need branded surfaces — including an NFC card when it fits — that measure profile traffic, that is ours: quote-led placements into a living page.
How do multi-QR and tracking codes prove which placement worked?
Each placement can get its own tracked QR or tracking-code variant into the same profile. Analytics show scans by placement so you can compare whether the flyer, truck, hat, or window drove traffic — not just total scans.
Can I set up profiles for my team or organization?
Yes. We offer solutions for teams and organizations to create and manage multiple profiles from one account.
Why do I sometimes see a second similar row after restoring?
If your profile is currently live, restoring an older version keeps the live public site unchanged and creates a separate draft row. This protects your public link from unexpected changes.
What does Restore in version history do?
Restore copies the selected historical version into your current drafts. If the profile is live, restore creates a separate draft so your current live page stays online.
When I restore from trash, does it go live immediately?
No. Restoring from trash brings the profile back to your list in inactive mode. Activate it when you are ready to publish again.
